Online Money Making?!!

Of late I have been trying to earn online, like everybody is trying to do. I can't say that I have been successful, but I have signed up with some sites which are free to sign up. I just pass on the links which ask for money. Every one is asking for $49.95 or Rs.200 - 500 (Indian Currency) before they will let us know of their success money making ways on the Internet. But I don't want to spend money to buy books which tell "how to market", "how to get rich quickly", or any such topics which are a dime a dozen, or on a list of websites which may or may not exist!!!
So, as a rule, I don't sign up to any site that asks for money. Another rule I have decided to follow strictly is that - if I find anything irresistible, I would first check up whether its BBB (Better Business Bureau) approved before I pay up. But so far, having surfed through a number of sites (I have lost count) I have come across only one site which is BBB approved and that is SFI. This is also a free to sign site which offers a lot of merchandise to sell online. You also get to earn by referring people to it. Pls check out the following link to know more about it - http://www.moreinfo247.com/9211933/cb
Another website that offers money to just initiate and participate in discussion is Mylot.com This is a free to sign up site. There is a lot of discussions going on and you can answer any number of discussions you can and earn for it too. This may sound to be too good to be true. But pls check out for your self before you decide. The website can be reached by just clicking on the following link - http://www.mylot.com/?ref=darshini
Cashcrate.com is a website that offers to pay to participate in surveys. The link is - http://www.cashcrate.com/index.php?ref=76407
The following three sites are also free to sign up...
The latest thing I have come across is "agloco.com" It proclaims - " own the Internet" Its a new site that promises shares and money for the members. Membership is only be reference. So pls follow this link, sign up and let's share the wealth... http://www.agloco.com/r/BBBG8191
While I found nothing illegal in any of the websites (on the surface), I have no assurances that these sites will rake in the moolah. So, I think it is my responsibility to warn any one, that I am not responsible for anything that may be the result of signing up to any the above said websites.
But it is my sincere wish that people who read this may find it profitable.

Cowardice or Fool Hardiness?!

India, SriLanka and South Africa were to play a tri-series one day international matches in SriLanka. But the South Africans pulled out at the last minute stating security reasons. The South Africans had said that the security report of the independent security agency hired by International Cricket Council (ICC)- Oliver Group - was not satisfied with the security arrangements. But the Inspector General of Police, Colombo, Mr.Chandra Fernando in an interview to The Hindu, a national daily from India, has said that no one from Oliver Group has met him or spoken to him and that he finds the whole thing amusing. Mr. Fernando said that he had agreed to every security demand the South African team management made and assured them protection on par with what was being accorded to the heads of state. Inspite of all this the South Africans have withdrawn from the series, while the Indians and the SriLankans are gamely proceeding with the series with the first match slated for today.

We must certainly cheer both the SriLankans and the Indians for their show of mental strength. But then I have this nagging feeling inside me - is it really worth risking lives playing! If any thing untowardly happens - God forbid - it is not only the players who will suffer but also scores of innocent spectators.

Whether it is a cowardly act on the part of the South Africans or plain foolhardiness on the part of the Indians & SriLankans I wouldn't mind, as long as the players return safely. Let's pray for them!

Indian Prime Minister Assures!

Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh in his reply to a daylong marathon discussion in the Rajya Sabha - the upper house of the Parliament - on the Indo-U.S. civilian nuclear deal asserted that India will not accept any extraneous conditions.

Dr.Singh assured the House during his 80 minute reply that, "any deviation from the July 18, 2005, joint statement and the March 2,2006 separation plan will not be acceptable to us , and the U.S. administration has been informed of this stand. There is no question of our strategic nuclear autonomy being compromised and new and unacceptable conditions being introduced".

Dr. Singh further asserted that "there is no question of allowing American inspectors to roam around our nuclear facilities. Our foreign policy is determined solely by our national interests. No legislation enacted in a foreign country can take away from us that sovereign right. There is no question of India being bound by a law passed by a foreign legislation."

As an ordinary citizen who could only be a mute spectator, I am somewhat relieved that the Prime Minister is not bowing to the pressures of the U.S. I sincerely wish that Dr.Singh sticks to his guns and stalls any attempt by the U.S. to suffocate the Indian nuclear programme.

But what the destiny has in store and how U.S. is going to play its cards in the coming days - let us wait and see the drama unfolding.

Book Review

I recently shifted my residence. While packing, I came across this cute little book (yes, this book is just the size of your palm) named " Life's Little Instruction Book" - vol 3, by H.Jackson Brown Jr. It is quite a read and very interesting. The Author offers quite a lot of advice to his son who asked for more of it though he has graduated from college and is living separately.

The advice or little instructions as Mr.Brown Jr prefers to call them useful in every day life. Some of the instructions from the book are :

.Regardless of the situation, remember that nothing is lost by courtesy.
.Enjoy the satisfaction that comes from doing little things well.
.Remember that it's better to be cheated in price than in quality.
.Work for a company where the expectation of you are high.
.Earn your success based on service to others, not at the expense of others.

Not all the instructions are so serious. Some of them are quite banal but genuine if you think over it. Here's a few of them :

.Never go near a kid who's holding a water hose unless you want to get wet.
.Kiss slowly.
.Shoot a few hoops.
.Cut your toenails in private.
.When in doubt, smile.

This book is not only entertaining but thought provoking also. I wish I could get the first two volumes too. (The quotation below my blog title is from this book).

The Troubles of posting links on the blog

I have been trying to get some add-ons to this blog - so far I have been extremely unsuccessful. I am not an expert with computers, just a lay man with a computer who knows typing. Getting the links like Clock, Banner, language fonts etc has so far eluded me. I don't how the other guys are doing it. May be they are computer whizkids. Must be. God please help me!!!!!.
